I will be ending this trip here in Pittsburgh, going home for a day, then on to another one. Bringing with me fellow founding member of NGDB, Les Thompson. He is the guy who played mandolin and bass with the group, though when he was 15 we were in a group together called The Willmore City Moonshiners. Played about 20 gigs around L.A. then.... 'it quit.' He called me a year later and asked if I wanted to be part of a new band forming at McCabe;s Guitar SHop in Long Beach.. I knew everyone, so I said YES. That was July of 1966, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (that went on to make its first album 5 months later), was born. Also, bringing DANNY KNICELY with us... He is a KILLER guitar/mandolin picker who has ALL the right notes.. It is worth it just to see Danny!! We will be doing early NGDB, Circle be Unbroken (album), and some new music - with video of 'the old daze'.
